Level of Kashrut at Our Botswana & South Africa, Lodges & Camps 

The lodges and camps that have been carefully curated for kosher safari experiences and are quite experienced and adept at handling any kosher request you may have.

Level 1:

Ready-made kosher meals, cutlery and pans airlifted from a kosher caterer in Johannesburg or Cape Town.  This is part of the nightly rate quoted

Level 2:

Kosher meals are prepared by local chefs in a Kosher compliant kitchen, with dedicated sets of meats and milk, cutlery, crockery and utensils on dedicated stoves. The guests are also invited into the Kosher style kitchen to inspect the layout of the kitchen area, utensils, and verify the usage of Kosher approved ingredients & preparation. This is part of the nightly rate quoted

Level 3:

A private Mashgiach is flown into the Safari Lodge or camp from Johannesburg or Cape Town, and supervises how the food is prepared by the local chefs and most probably in a kosher compliant kitchen, with dedicated cutlery, crockery and utensils on dedicated stoves.  Prices for this are custom to cater for the Mashgiach's travel costs & allowances.

Level 4:

A private Jewish Kosher chef is flown in from Johannesburg or Cape Town and prepares all meals on site for the guests. They may call the local chefs to assist.  This chef will work with full permission of his overseeing Rabbi in either Johannesburg or Cape Town.  Prices for this are custom to cater for the Mashgiach's travel costs & allowances.
