Overview

I could see how the Twyfelfontein conservancy may have wanted to remain inaccessible through all of time, it has been protecting the southern most roaming ground of the black rhino and elusive desert elephant.

Sustainable eco-tourism and community upliftment is of the utmost importance at Mowani. Guides from the local tribes compliment day-time game drives to track mountain zebra, kudu, springbok, klipspringer and if you are fortunate enough... the leopard! The adventurer in me took over at Mowani. Days were filled with game drives, hot air balloon trips over the Aba-Huab Valley, champagne breakfasts and al fresco meals amidst the dusky landscape beneath Mopani trees.

Mowani offers 6 Standard rooms with valley views, 6 Standard View rooms with hill top vistas, 1 Luxury room, 2 Luxury suites & 7 Campsites with private ablution facilities.

Rooms

Adrift in my own universe, it was easy to forget that nestled between the ancient granite boulders and paths connecting it all together, were 12 thatch en-suite rooms... each accommodating a story of their own.

Mini Suites

The private suite was my ultimate retreat. Uninterrupted views surrounded me whether relaxing in the folds of my bed, enjoying dinner on the private deck or throwing caution to the wind in the open-air bathroom! An additional indoor bathroom and luxuriously furbished African flavoured lounge, further complimented my accommodations - made for a king... in hiding!

There are plenty of ways to relax at Mowani Mountain Camp.

Discover the pool deck, lodged between the boulders where you can soak up the sun whilst enjoying a refreshing drink and admiring breathtaking views. Adventures and activities available at Mowani include guided nature drives in search of the elusive desert elephant and hiking through magnificent scenery.

Staying at Mowani Mountain Camp, a traveller can easily join in an excursion to explore the historical site of Twyfelfontein - click to read up more. Twyfelfontein is a rare example of Bushmen engravings and paintings occurring at the same site. This wonderful archealogical site offers more than 2,500 engravings as well as various paintings, and is probably the finest example of rock engravings in Southern Africa.
