Overview

South Africa is one of the best destinations in the world for watching the Southern Right Whales.  The best time for doing this is between June and December.

The whales are called Southern Right because the whalers considered them the “right” whales to hunt, since they were easy to hunt.

We have two ways in which you can watch the whales.

By Boat:

By all boat tours are forbidden from approaching closer than 165 feet to a whale.  However if the whale due to its own curiosity comes closer the boat operator is allowed to remain in place.

The best spot to view the whale is in Hermanus at the Walker Bay.

By Air:

This beautiful way to view the whales, in specially fitted planes that offer an unobstructed view from a stable, smooth platform.  During the whale season we guarantee sightings with a full refund if whales are not found.
